Description
Saransk is the capital of the Russian republic of Mordovia. Already 2010 the city has begun, to invest in infrastructure. Right next to the Ice Palace and the Sports Stadium, the palace of water sports was built. During the construction phase it became clear, that it would be difficult, meet the opening date. The accuracy of the concrete building was not comparable to the German standards. The installation of the pool had fallen extremely behind the necessary construction process. Where a construction schedule, like it should be standard on such a large construction site, was not available. Not to mention a craft comprehensive coordinated plan.
At the same time this plan was the sword of Damocles, which has been slowly growing over the site. Because the inauguration of Russian President should be made, absolute deadline loyalty was required of all trades. My job was it, to guide the Russian technicians and to secure the appointment. I had only, because of the limitation by the Russian visa regulations, a brief month to implement.
Activities
The staff, what should mount the pool components, was not previously trained. There was no motivation and a constant change of staff. Hit or miss, if the instructed employees appeared back to work the next day. Thatswy it was decided after only one day, that 3 fitters from Slovakia are employed as foreman.
From the Russian side's performance to date has been on 2 pool limited. This behavior is from before 1990 of the term "Potemkin villages" known. The competition pool should not be opened to date. With this scope, everyone could concentrate on the diving pool and a relaxation pool.
Construction process
With the help of Slovak technicians to meet the deadline for the remaining pool was no longer a problem. What Russian companies forgot, an attractive pool needed clean water. Neither the expansion tanks were ready, nor was thinking of a functioning water treatment plant.
So it went on with the improvisation. The circulating pumps were clamped directly to the site electricity supply and operate the filter from the bottom suction. The pH was adjusted by hand and the flocculant metered with a long tube in the pool near the suction boxes. After 3 days, when much of the iron and manganese had been oxygenated and filtered, a manual chlorine dosage was put into operation. Shortly before the opening of the pool and the water was in optimum conditions and my job was ended on 06. September 2011.

The opening was postponed due to a tragic accident.
Nevertheless, the opening had to be postponed. Because at 07. September 2011 crashed the Russian national ice hockey team with their plane near the city of Yaroslavl. The Russian President therefore canceled his participation in the opening and cleared the way for a postponement.
Supplement
In a second visit in December 2011 I supervised the installation of a movable bridge in the competition pool. This bridge can be used to, the pool from 1x 50m to 2x 25 meters to share.
